 PROJECT UNIT 12

DRAMATIZATION - OLIVER TWIST

We are finally at the end of our journey. To say goodbye to this wonderful year, I have prepared the last project: a representation of a fragment of the book Oliver Twist.

My students and I have been reading a chapter of this book in each unit, and we have been analyzing them in depth. To put the icing on our cake, students, in groups, will choose a scene from the book and perform it in fron of the class for their classmates.

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: You will be divided in groups and then you will choose a chapter of the book Oliver Twist.

STEP 2: You will choose a character and memorize your lines.

FINAL TASK: Finally, you perform in front of the class. Let your inner actors come out!

PROJECT UNIT 9

BREAKING NEWS PODCAST

Hello everyone! Today, I'm here to explain you what your unit 9 project will be like. In this didactic unit students will interview a family member or friend about his/her lifestyle and ask them about tips to have a healthy lifestyle. Then, they will record a podcast reporting what he/she said. They will use reported speech and the vocabulary of the unit.

Here you have the podcast I prepared to introduce the unit.

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: Interview a family member on his/her healthy habits. You can raise the following topics:
  • Exercise and sport
  • Eating habits (healthy food, fruits and vegetables, fast food, etc.).
  • Drinking water
  • Sleeping hours
  • Other special habits

STEP 2: Students will write the script reporting the information they have gathered after their interviews.

FINAL TASK: Finally, they will record a podcast in which they explain the different news using, of course, reported speech.

PROJECT UNIT 8

PRODUCT ADVERTISEMENT WEBPAGE

Hello guys! Unit 8 is going to be about Marketing and Shopping. For that reason, this time your final project is going to be a Product Advertisement Webpage!

Project Unit 8

Students, in groups, will create a web page to advertise a product they will also invent. They will be using the PASSIVE VOICE to describe the product or service and its characteristics.
I.e.: this article is used to dry your hair/ it can be bought in our website...

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: You will, in groups, brainstorm to decide which product you are going to create. You will have to answer the following questions:
  • Name of the product
  • Price
  • Availability
  • How it is used/how it works
  • What will it be used for/functions
  • Why people should buy it
  • How will it help our society

STEP 2: You will write the script containing the different informations you want to add to their webpages.

FINAL TASK: Finally, it's time to be creative. You will create the webpage for your product's advertisement. You can add images, different colours, or even a video if you want. You should try to be original.

PROJECT UNIT 7
OUR CITY

done good

Hi everyone!
The final project of this unit is going to be the creation of a whole city! Students, in groups, will design their own cities. They will have to create its name and flag and include different information such as buildings, other elements, and festivities their city has and they will also include a political programme to put into practice the grammar of this unit: The conditionals.

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: Give a name to your city and design a representative flag.

STEP 2: Make a list of all the important places your city has (hospital, police office, theatre, parks, etc.).

STEP 3: Make a second list including other important elements your city should have (bridges, traffic lights, fountains, streetlights, etc.).

STEP 4: Many tourists will visit your city in the future and they usually get lost. Complete a map including the main spots and giving directions.

STEP 5: Create and choose a day for the local festivity.

STEP 6: Organise your political programme. Include 10 things you will do if people vote for you. Use the first conditional. Ex: If you vote for us, we will create 2 new parks for children in the city.

STEP 7: Create a sustainability programme to make your city greener. Include 10 things you would do to make the city more sustainable. Use the second conditional. Ex: If I were the major, I would put recycling bins on every street.

In order to facilitate them the work and follow a scaffolding method, they will be given 7 templates and a blank map at the beginning of the unit that they will have to complete and hand in when the project is finished.

PROJECT UNIT 6

TV PROGRAMME

Unit 6 of our syllabus deals with the media. Thus, this time students will simulate a TV programme in which they will commemorate our history by talking about historical news. They will use THE PAST TENSES to explain the different events they will mention. Click here to watch the project presentation video I created with Genially.

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: You will be divided in groups and then you will choose an historical event to include in your TV program.

STEP 2: You will write the script for your TV program.

FINAL TASK: Finally, you will record the TV program. You can use an app, as I did, or you can just record yourselves in the school or at home. It's up to you!

PROJECT UNIT 5

CITY TOUR

In this project, students will create a Glogster about a city where English is spoken including relevant information for people who could visit that city in the future.

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1: You will select a city. You need to include all these informations:
·     Brief description of the city (where is it, how many inhabitants it has, etc.)
·     Monuments and places to visit
·     Food to taste
·     Festivities
·     Traditions
·     Etc.

STEP 2: You have to do a research to learn something more about the city you have chosen. You will use the computer room to gather information related to the points mentioned before.

FINAL TASK: You can now create a Glogster. We are using this tool because I want you to use not only text, but also videos, images, pictures, etc. to describe the city you chose. Here is my London City Tour:
